Because I'm diabetic I used a bit of sugar-free pancake syrup and a tablespoon of brown sugar Splenda. I didn't have Rum (yuk) so used Scotch. Also forgot to put in cinnamon and vanilla. It still turned out delish. Instead of all brandy, I did half brandy and half amaretto and at the end of the cooking time I thickened it with a little bit of cornstarch slurry.
