It's a Give Away!

Happy Tax Day! Happy almost-Mother's Day!

Happy I'm-practically-done-with-cookbook #2-which-is-good-because-I'm-kind of-sort of-freaking-out-over-here-Day!

I haven't forgotten you, I promise. I'm feverishly working to meet my deadline for the second Make it Fast book (this one is for food on a budget! 200 new recipes! what did I get myself into?!), and once that happens, I will go back to posting regularly. I've got a BUNCH of new recipes I'm eager to share!

It's almost Mother's Day (you've got a few weeks, but I'm a planner), and therefore you deserve a new toy. Click on over to my review blog for a Crock-Pot and Make it Fast book give away. I've got 5 to give away!

also, in honor of this upcoming date, Lydia, from A Perfect Pantry and Drop in and Decorate would like to remind you that Mother's Day is a perfect holiday for making cookies.
While you are baking your cookies, invite some friends over to help decorate a batch for those in need. Drop in and Decorate is a fantastic way to give back to those in your community who could use a little extra love and support.

Also, if you plan on getting away this Mother's Day, how about heading to Disneyland for the annual Food and Wine Festival? I will be appearing May 7, 8, and 9th @ 6pm in Sunshine Plaza in California Adventures.
Come say hi!

Okay!
to recap:

1) sign up for a free crock-pot and book
2) make cookies
3) come see me in Disneyland
4) send "don't worry, you'll of course make your deadline" vibes
5) convince the baby that napping someplace other than in my lap is A-okay
6) give your mom a hug

Just added! #7): you can also enter to win a slow cooker and book at Raising Healthy Eaters, and at Pioneer Woman!

Oh man, I forgot about Mother's Day. Thanks for the reminder!

Don't worry - you'll definitely make your deadline! :0)

Put that baby in a swing & crank it high! That's where my 9 week old naps most of the time. I'm assuming you'll get more done without that baby tied to you, at least I do. Don't worry, you'll get it done.

You'll make it!

And of course, babies are meant to nap in bizarre places. Whether they be in their swing, carseat, bouncy seat, stroller, or attached to you on your back, front, or wherever works!

You can do it!

You'll finish and the world will rejoice over your next creation! I'm eagerly awaiting its publication. Sending peaceful vibes your way!

You rock, Stephanie! We're used to waiting for things (we use the crock pot!), and we'll be right here for you once things calm down. Can't wait for your new book.

My little brother used to sleep in his car seat. My mom and my aunt had to pass the car seat along with him, and my aunt figured out that even with it just sitting on the floor, he would take his blankie and his pacie and go sleep in the car seat. I don't know who was more upset when he outgrew that, him or them!

Awesome give away, btw. That CP looks like something off the Jetsons. How big is it?

Looking forward to book #2. :)

Steph congrats on your new book! I am so tempted to come see you in Disneyland! If we hadn't already been there a couple of months ago I would do it. Someday I'll meet you in person. You still inspire me...I'm still plugging away with my cleaning, organizing and projects!

I would love a new crockpot! I'm still using one I purchased before I got married 24 years ago! Now with a family of 5, well, we're wearing that thing out!

We all try to meet our deadlines. I am very thankful that when we do, it's great and when we don't, it is not as bad as we thought it would be. The world is still on its orbit and unfinished items of the last deadline fades as we approach the new ones facing us. Thanks for the slow cooker and cook book giveaway. I don't need the slow cooker, but a young friend of mine with 3 children, 3 years and under could certainly use it. Thanks again.

I love you already and just heard of your cookbook from the Pioneer Woman's blog. You see... we are a gluten free family of 6 and it is very difficult to find good gluten free books!! I have never thought of taking the crockpot with me!! That was a big DUH moment for me just now!!! I bring all of our food most places we go, why haven't I thought of that?
Your blog will be one I go to alot.
Thanks to people like you the gluten free lifestyle is getting easier and I have been doing this for about 6-7 years.

Everything will be alright! Deep breathes, and enjoy the baby, it really doesn't last long enough.

So excited to have found your website and seriously looking forward to your book! I need more crockpoting in my life.

I think you'll make it!! Deadlines are great motivators!

"Hug your mom." Okay, done! My mom lives with us now and what a blessing that has been. She's connecting with her grandchildren like never before. I think she loves all the attention! I think she'd love to read your book.

Okay, I have been going through your blog because I do crockpot meals once a week for the pastoral staff and volunteers at my church on Wednesday nights (meaning there are a million ways I could screw a meal up if I add in one item and don't add another item...depending upon who you ask, of course). I just wanted to say THANK YOU!!! For inspiring me to step outside of my norm.

I also had a question for you: When I was reading your lasagnA post, I read "ricotta" and winced. I have texture issues. A lot. One of my friends who also has said texture issues, told me about using cottage cheese in place of ricotta. So i took to that UNTIL another friend told me about yogurt cheese!

I'm not 100% certain it is gluten free, however if you look at the nutritionals, it is very high in protein and very low in all the bad stuff (Dannon actually has something about this on their website. I only use Dannon Non-Fat Plain yogurt for my cheese).

I have substituted it for pretty much everything creamy (cream of....soups, sour cream, cream cheese, ricotta cheese....), and it NEVER separates (which was my biggest fear). I actually made a lasagna of sorts with it with just a pasta sauce, mozzerella, yogurt cheese, polenta (instead of noodles) and roasted veggies. I took it to work (I wasn't so sure the polenta would sub in well, but boy was I wrong!) and people there are still requesting it...and that was three months ago.

Anyway, after all this rambling, I wanted to give you that suggestion. I don't know how well the polenta lasagna would work in the crockpot as I used the oven, but the possibilities are (clearly) endless!

Love the giveaway. And we are working our way through the crockpot recipes!!

I had to laugh at how badly I could use a new crockpot. The one I'm using was a wedding gift---from 29 years ago! Can anyone top that!?

Many thanks for this give away! Love the ease and deliciousness of this simple cooking method! And who doesn't love a NEW cookbook!!!

I just linked over from Pioneer Woman, and I am loving your blog! I have recently been on the hunt for new crock pot recipes - and it looks like I have hit the jackpot with you! Good luck on the book - can't wait to check it out! :)

Of course you will make your deadline. I'm sure it will be as great as the last one. Thanks for the great giveaway!

I haven't used my crockpot for a few months (I love my Dutch oven during the winter) but it's about to heat up here in TX and I won't want the oven on. Thank you for all the great recipes!
I wanted to tell you that we've just recently gone gluten free (my daughter has an allergy) and we use Bragg's Amino Acids instead of soy sauce. It tastes the same (if not better) and there's no added salt or MSG!
Here's a link to check it out http://www.bragg.com/products/la.html

have a great week!!
